Evaluation questions

 1) Pre production (story boarding, prop lists etc) In pre production of our prelim video, I made the story board. I did this on pieces of A3 paper and split the page into 9 boxes. In each box I drew the shots that we wanted to recreate so it was easier to look at when filming. In each of the boxes I also included the lyrics of which shots they were in so we could see which parts to films and the actor knew which lyrics went with each shot. We also had to book the set that we wanted to film in which was the white room and we boked two sessions so we had enough time to get the footage that we needed. We also made a list of everyone's role in our group and these included, Director, Lighting, Editor, Stylist, filming and actor. This was so everyone knew which area they had to focus on. We didn't make a list of props because the only props we needed was a guitar. We also printed off the lyrics so our actor could learn them.

2) Production (filming etc)
When filming our video we started off by setting up the camera in the correct place on the tripod to get the right angle for the first shot. We then set up the lighting around the room by using two lights to make it brighter. Our actor was then styled in a shirt and we quickly looked over the video so he knew what the first shot looked like that he needed to recreate. When we filmed, I held up the lyrics behind the camera so he wouldn't forget them when recreating the shots. This worked well and I directed him through what actions he needed to do. Everyone in the group then watched through the real music video so we all knew what it should look like. We then proceeded to film the rest of the video but we had to film some parts again because they didn't look the same as the real video. When filming we decided to play the song so our actor knew when to mime the lyrics.

3) Post production (editing footage etc)
After getting all of the footage that we needed, we then put the memory card into the computer to get the film. I then went on to edit the clips into one. I found this quite hard as I had never used Final Cut Pro. After having a look at the software I then added the clips in to watch which ones we were going to use. I added the title of the video at the start and then added our first shot. I tried to add a fade effect in-between each of the clips as this is what the real video has on it but this was not very successful as I didn't really know how to do it. After I had added all of the clips I muted the audio in the clips and added the music in the background. I then had to make sure that the miming was in time with the music which was quite difficult. Overall, I think our video was ok but it could have been a lot better if we knew how to edit properly and had a better actor who was willing to look like the artist. I also think our filming wasn't very good as we didn't always use the tripod when filming so some parts looked a bit shaky. Also in one of the clips that we filmed you can see a chair in the background which is obviously not what we wanted in the background. However, we had to use that clip because we were running out of time and we couldn't film it again.
